There were street plays on politics, green theme and social causes. Workshops from clay station kept everyone busy and others participated in debates and some crackling quizzes.

The next two days were full of fun activities. It was truly a marvellous end to the fashion show. The last model came on stage on a scooty to everyone’s surprise while the rest grooved to some funky beats. The finale came with the round called ‘eye candy’ and had the models walking the ramp in colourful clothes and outrageous props like huge glasses, fake flowers and big hats.
Some of the other rounds were ‘Midnight Reverie’, which had flowy dresses and knitwear, ‘Spring Collection’ and ‘Garden Collection’. ‘My boyfriend’s jacket’ was another interesting round where the models showcased clothes which had a masculine base but were very sexy and feminine nonetheless. The models wore neckpieces, red caps and smart jackets. The first round was ‘Charmed Forces’, where the clothes were inspired by the armed forces. It had nine rounds and each round was different from the other. The fashion show was no less than a spectacular event. After this, the students lighted 25 candles to celebrate the occasion. The show started with a welcome dance by the students which was followed by a ceremony where the chief guests Manoviraj Khosla, fashion designer, and D A Venkatesh, Commissioner for Textile Development and Director of Handlooms and Textiles, Government of Karnataka, released balloons in the air to commemorate 25 years of excellence of NIFT. The theme of the fashion show was ‘go green’. The three-day celebration started with the inaugural fashion show, ‘Catch the Bling!’, which was put together by the third year students of the institute. “Everyone has been working very hard over the past week to put everything together,” said Ruma, a third year Fashion Communications student.
And the theme was visible everywhere in the campus.įrom the recycled painted wooden panels to the ‘post-its’ and finally an old scooter turned into an installation, every bit of the decoration was made from old materials. Underlining the institute’s commitment towards responsible usage, the theme of the festival was ‘Sustainable Design’. NIFT Bangalore celebrated its annual student fest called ‘Spectrum’ recently with much enthusiasm. After all, it is not everyday they celebrate 25 great years of their institution, the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).
